when the assailant becomes the victim

last weekend mr. xtreme adn I patrolled downtown san diego, as per usual nothing ever happens till close to th ened of the night when everyone is drunk. we walked by a group of people who started fighting out of nowhere. we attempted to break up the fight and try and get inbetween everyone, but it was basically 3 against eight (the 3rd my uncostumed partner who likes to tag along). after a few minutes one of the more aggressive perpetrators grabbed my mask from behind and pulled on me, I turned around and pushed him away, and a wide swing (I dunno HOW I missed that one) caught me in the shoulder blade (weird angle I know), I somehow got pushed to the ground and when I got back up xtreme had sprayed him the face and he went running, I was going to blast him with my stun gun but couldn't do it since he was now in reatreat, as I caught up to him and tried to place him under a citizens arrest I noticed his head was covered in blod, not sure from what but I realized we had to help him, so we got ahold of the police, who called a bus to the scene (thats police lingo for an ambulance) and he recieved medical attention. I'm not really sure wht happened to the guy, because the police said we could go shortly after that. but what turned from someone who assaulted me several times became a victim himself and someone I felt sympathy for. I realize how difficult this job can be, and I hope that something like this never happens again. I hope that guy is doing alright now.
